My role on this project was UX Design Lead.
Gizmo is a wearable device for children aged 8-12, who might be a little too young for a smartphone, but old enough to need a way to contact family, friends or caregivers. The device has it's own phone number and allows the child to make and receive calls, as well as send and receive texts and emojis.
The device is secure, and can only be called by a set of specific "whitelisted" phone numbers that are designated by the parent, who sends an invitation to the potential contact for the child. Once the contact accepts the invitation, their number is added to the whitelist.
Gizmo Hub App gives the parent the ability to supervise and monitor their child's contacts, as well as some other features. With the Gizmo Hub App they can:
- Invite, manage or block contacts for their child
- Set daily reminders for their child
- See their child's current location and set up geo-fencing alerts
- See the child's location history
- Pair the Gizmo with their smartphone
- Provides a full set of device settings for device management
